The first-ever bus-train dual-mode vehicle was launched in Japan.

This dual-mode vehicle (DMV) can run both on conventional road surfaces and on railway tracks It resembles to a minibus and runs on normal rubber tires on the road. After arriving at an interchange, steel wheels descend and underbelly onto the rail track, and effectively turn itself into a train carriage.

Its train wheels lift the front tires off the track while the rear wheels stay down to propel the DMV onto the railway.
