Matchday 72 - Colchester United vs Bromley

In Matchday 72's VLOG, we take on a long journey to Colchester United as part of our 92 Ground Challenge! With an estimated drive time of over 3 hours and 340 miles ahead, we left at 09:00 and picked up Grandad Steve for the trip. Despite some issues with our usual car, a hire car stepped in for this adventure, and off we went! The weather was mixed—cloudy with light rain for the first half but turning into a scorcher with 22-degree sunshine when we reached Colchester.

Before heading to the stadium, we made our customary pre-match stop at a Wetherspoon pub. This time, we checked out "The Playhouse," a stunning former theatre turned pub. After a couple of ales and pizza, we were back on the road for a short 15-minute drive to the JobServe Community Stadium. Parking was easy, and the fan experience kicked off with a chat with a Colchester supporter who was enjoying the sunshine with a pint.

Inside the stadium, we were blown away by how fan-friendly Colchester is—from free matchday programs to fun kids’ activities. We even had a personalized message on the big screen, a first for us in this challenge! The match itself was a well-fought 1-1 draw, with plenty of action and a lively atmosphere from the Bromley away fans.
