Eastman Kodak 5222 Double-X Black and White Film | All About Film

5222 has a unique image characteristic that you won’t find in any stocks other than this, specifically because it’s a motion stock. It has higher contrast, out of the box, than any other black and white film I’ve used. The grain is more pronounced than on other similar-speed films and than compared to other Kodak Vision stocks. You need to love the look this film stock provides. If you don’t, you will hate using it. And because you have to buy it either re-spooled for stupid per-roll sums of money or in a 400-foot tin for some complex re-spooling of your own, using 5222 is a passion project not to be jumped into lightly or without much experience respooling your own film from bulk.
