Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Level 8: Banzai Bonsai (Crystal/Gem)

Описание к видео Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Level 8: Banzai Bonsai (Crystal/Gem)

This is one of my favorite levels, because it's the first level that lets you play as Coco. You still enter her levels as Crash, but during the loading screen where Crash falls endlessly through cyberspace, Coco falls right on him and knocks him offscreen. When you leave the level as Coco, Crash comes back and returns the favor, and even sets in place the treasures his sister gathered.
--------------

More onto Coco and her first level. Both of her Pura levels in Crash 3: Warped were based on the Great Wall of China. In Banzai Bonsai, you travel through a Japanese town with her completely on foot, full of deadly fish, birds, and even ninjas.

(6/19/17: Though, I may be mistaken and this is actually another Chinese level that happens to look a lot different from Crash 3's China levels.)

Coco's somewhat stronger compared to before, now. She's taken up karate from watching it in movies, so she'll use a spinning Karate Kick and a low sweep kick in place Crash's spin attack and slide. She also has a body slam equivalent in a Stomp attack, which lets out a yellow shockwave like Crash's Super Body Slam in Crash 3.

Despite all of this, Coco is still pretty much a weaker version of Crash in this game. She can't use all of the powers he gets from bosses, and even though she can talk again, she's completely silent when you play as her, and she doesn't have as many death animations as her brother.
--------------

Speaking of deaths, for some very strange reason, although Coco has learned to fight, she somehow forgot how to swim like she could every time her Jet Ski blew up in Crash 3. The very moment she falls in deep water in this game, she instantly struggles and drowns, almost just like Crash does in Crash 2 & 3, even.

WHAT THE HELL?!

Welp, to the game’s admittance, this level IS in the Warp Room's Water Chamber, hosted by a mask trying to kill you with water...

Another bizarre thing is that while Coco can finally utilize Aku Aku's 3-Mask invincibility, she still instantly dies if she falls on those big torches she's supposed to jump over while under its effect. See for yourself at 5:05.

Coco's my favorite character in this series. Even though she feels more playable in this game compared Crash 3, she still feels underutilized.
--------------

There appears to be a Red Gem Platform, here, but I can't use it because I don't have the Red Gem, itself, yet. I'll have to come back later after I get it, wherever it is...

6/10/17 UPDATE: It looks like the love for Crash's little sister is still immense after all of these years. This video is currently my highest-viewed Wrath of Cortex video, and also, my Crash Bandicoot: Warped video of her going through Orient Express is my 2nd highest-viewed Crash 3 video and my 2nd highest-viewed Crash Bandicoot video in the history of my entire channel.

As of this update, I've just discovered that the N-Sane Trilogy will outplay the original 3 Naughty Dog games by making Coco playable in ALMOST EVERY LEVEL OF ALL THREE GAMES! There is no doubt in my mind that this is based on her playability in this game.

That's amazing! She really deserves this. Coco can now wholeheartedly be the Luigi/Tails/Diddy Kong she was always meant to be to Crash's Mario/Sonic/Donkey Kong!
