My Rapid Comic Book Wet Cleaning Method Revealed!

All Star Comics 55 Conservation Episode 4: Faster Deacidification and Drying Method.

In this video we continue a Golden Age Comic Book conservation project on this copy of All Star Comics #55 from 1950. We review our progress so far and then we try a full aqueous submersion bath for cleaning and deacidification of the interior comic book wraps that takes less than a quarter of the time of our usual method! Then we turn our attention to the press to dry the page out, and reduce our drying time from 2 days to 4 hours with a heated press!

The materials and methods I use are archival and are reversible. If done properly, they do not result in a purple restored label from CGC.
