Moving a Heavy Patient up in Bed

This video describes how to move and position a heavy patient in bed - use a large plastic garbage bag as a turn sheet or order one with handles - they will slide much easier than the sheets. Of course always tell the patient what you plan to do before you move.
Put one foot forward as you prepare to move the patient. Put your weight on your front leg. On the count of three, move the patient by shifting your weight to your back leg and pulling the sheet toward the head of the bed. You may need to do this more than once to get the person in the right position.
