Esso from the Bagfuel podcast says hip hop is “boring” now because Drake isn’t the number one guy anymore. According to him, Kendrick Lamar is great but doesn’t bring “excitement” — and that excitement apparently comes from Drake being outside with “whores,” flashing gambling slips, and sitting courtside at NBA games.

In this video, I break down why that take is not only embarrassing, but completely disconnected from Drake’s actual music. From dropping 50+ songs since his battle with Kendrick to desperate genre-hopping for a hit, to the fact that hip hop is more exciting than it’s been in years — Esso’s argument doesn’t hold up.
