I am embarking on an ambitious project-- a video guide to help you become an amateur astronomer and it will be called Tsula's Complete Video Guide to Becoming an Amateur Astronomer. This is Chapter One. In it, I explain how I became an amateur astronomer, what attracted me to astronomy, how I got started in astronomy, and how it has evolved over the years and how I would like to share all my knowledge with others to help them become amateur astronomers. I end by discussing the next chapter which will be on having reasonable expectations about what you can see and how to get started. Stay tuned.
