Video testimony of Canada's Privacy Commissioner, Daniel Therrien, testifying before Parliament's ETHI committee during their study of facial recognition technology. Commissioner Therrien discusses why the RCMP have rejected his office's finding that the RCMP violated section 4 of the Privacy Act in their use of the illegal Clearview AI facial recognition technology. In the RCMP's view, and contrary to Office of Privacy Commissioner's belief, public bodies should not be required to ensure the legality of the products they procure from the private sector.
