Описание к видео The Fantastic Baggys - Debbie be true

The Fantastic Baggys were a Los Angeles (USA) studio project created by PF Sloan and Steve Barri, and although four members are pictured on the album cover of “Tell Em' I'm Surfin” (released in the USA in 1964 and in South Africa in 1966), only Steve and Phil were band members. They also recorded three 7” singles. The album was mostly a commercial failure, except in South Africa where the 7” single release of “Tell Em' I'm Surfin” peaked at #2 on the Top 20 in 1966 and charted for 10 weeks.

Due to the album’s success in South Africa, The TEAL Record Company was eager to issue new albums, but when none were forthcoming, they decided to contract the local band, The Falling Leaves, to record new material and to release it under the name “The Fantastic Baggys”. The local act’s first 7” single release was “Papa Do Ro Ron” with “Anywhere The Girls Are (by the US Baggys) on the B side. “Papa Do Ron Ron” peaked at #10 on the Top 20 in November 1966, charting for 10 weeks.

Two additional Fantastic Baggys albums were released in South Africa which consisted mostly of songs by the South African group, with a few leftover tracks by the US Baggys. The second album, “Ride The Wild Surf”, was released in November 1966 and contained 5 tracks which featured Sloan and Barri, with the rest being by The Falling Leaves. The last album, “Surfer's Paradise”, was released in 1967 and featured only one Sloan/ Barri composition, “Only When You're Lonely”. By this time the “surfing” craze had mostly passed, and the last 2 albums did not do well commercially.
The Falling Leaves that recorded as The Fantastic Baggys were:

1. Art Fisher - lead guitar (formerly with The Meteors)
2. George McCauley - bass
3. Luigi Merola – lead vocals, rhythm guitar
4. Tyron Khouri – drums
5. Martin Sack - guitar was a member between 1966 and 1967.

George McCauley is an older brother of the well-known Rhema Church personality, Ray McCauley.

This song is from the album "Ride The Wild Surf", released in 1966.
