Описание к видео Mokha residents flee to Hodeidah

(1 Mar 2017) LEAD-IN:
People living in Mokha have fled the war-ravaged district for the relative safety of Hodeidah.
But the conditions in their makeshift camp are basic and local officials are calling for relief for the displaced community.

STORY-LINE:
These makeshift shelters are all some families have to call home now.
The people living here have fled fighting in Mokha and have set up this camp at the edge of Al-Garrahi district in the southern Yemeni province of Hodeidah.
The civilians have been trapped by intense fighting in Mokha.
They are lucky to have escaped with their lives.
But displaced man Mohammed Abdu has paid a heavy price for the war - his house was shelled, with tragic consequences.
"The aircraft hit, and my four children and wife were killed, and I'm left alone," he says.
Other families have been more fortunate and have made it to Al-Garrahi together.
They are surviving here by preparing food in traditional ovens.
But the unhappy faces across the camp are an indication of the basic conditions.
They may have escaped the danger of Mokha but they have been left with almost nothing.
"We were hungry and thirsty. We had no houses, shelter, nor belongings, displaced in the open between wind and rain," says displaced person Ruqayya Abdullah.
Fighting for Mokha has been fierce - the port is seen as a weapons lifeline to the Houthi rebels and their allies, who control the capital Sanaa, and much of the northern region.
Yemeni government forces, backed by Gulf Arab troops, have secured the Red Sea coast city in a push that paves the way for an advance on the country's main port city of Hodeidah.
But the fallout for civilians is severe.
Atef Aidarous, manager of executive unit in Al-Garrahi district, says 1,500 displaced families have already moved to this area and he expects the number to rise as fighting continues.
