Hiking from Passo Falzarego to Nuvolau and Cinque Torri is a stunning route in the Italian Dolomites, offering panoramic views and a mix of historical and natural highlights. The trail starts at Passo Falzarego (2,105 meters), known for its strategic role in World War I, and follows well-marked paths through rugged terrain and dramatic rock formations.

Route & Highlights:

The hike begins with a path toward Rifugio Averau (2,413 meters), a famous stop for its views and refreshments.
From here, you can ascend to Rifugio Nuvolau (2,575 meters), one of the oldest mountain huts in the Dolomites, offering a 360° view over peaks like Marmolada and Tofane.
Continuing toward Cinque Torri, you’ll see the iconic five-tower rock formation, a popular spot for climbers and photographers alike.
Trail Facts:

Length & Difficulty: The hike typically takes 4-5 hours round trip, covering about 10 km. It’s moderately challenging, with steep sections and a mix of gravel and rocky paths.
Altitude: The highest point is Nuvolau at 2,575 meters, which requires a bit of a climb but is accessible without technical equipment.
WWI History: The area around Cinque Torri served as a WWI battlefield, and you can visit open-air museums and restored bunkers that show the positions used by Italian troops.
This trail combines alpine landscapes, historical landmarks, and sweeping views, making it one of the Dolomites' most rewarding hikes.
