Описание к видео Andes Plane Crash Survivor Roberto Canessa Reflects on His Harrowing Story | Good Morning Britain

After the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in the Andes mountains in 1972, Roberto Canessa, a 19-year-old medical student, faced a harrowing ordeal. Stranded at a height of 11,710 feet with limited supplies, Roberto and his rugby teammates who were with him, confronted the unthinkable decision - resorting to cannibalism to survive. Over 72 days, they battled extreme conditions, an avalanche, and embarked on a perilous trek for help. The story was depicted in the 1993 film “Alive” and now it’s told again in the Netflix film "Society of the Snow” which captures the survivors' agonising experience and the ethical dilemmas they faced during their fight for survival. Roberto joins GMB today to open up on his harrowing story and fight for survival and reflect on the tragedy 50 years on.
