Should you try Steg Pegz? Are they just a crutch? 🤔︱Cross Training Enduro

https://stegzmoto.com.au Our response to critics of Steg Pegz who say they are just a crutch. These are rubber pucks that you can use for better grip and control of your bike with your legs, not just your arms. Steg Pegz are a revolutionary concept which allows you to grip and control with you legs not just your arms. This means less effort gripping the bike with your legs, but can make a huge difference to miminising fatigue for your upper body, especially arm pump. I used them for a year on the KTM 250EXC and loved them. Are they a crutch? For young fit riders this could be a valid criticism. But once you are old and/or have upper body issues these can extend your riding career in a bit way! On steep downhill runs, I would just stop squeezing the bike my legs and the boots could easily slide past the rubber pucks to get correct body positioning. As on old fellah, I found the Steg Pegz worked wonders for some carpal tunnel syndrome that was kicking in, as well as very sore fingers due to a bit of arthritis kicking in. When the Desert king version was released i was keen to put these on the new Beta RR300 as these conditions were still an issue even with the support of the standard Steg Pegz.As the name implies, the Desert King Steg Pegz are ideal for desert racing where riders can spend hours in the attack position, creating huge strain on the legs, arms, hands, and the entire body. The Desert King version is made for extra thick plate so it won't flex under the strain, and has three rubber pucks each side instead of just the one. There is virtually no need to grip the bike at all as your boots anchor themselves against these. In effect they work even better than the standard Steg Pegz and there's virtually no need to hang on to the bars at all on hill climbs or rapid acceleration - your legs do all the work. So for desert racing, or even just everyday dirt riding where you won't be going down steep descents these are the ducks nuts for reducing arm pump and other issues. For most riders, the original Steg Pegz would be fine, but the Desert King version would be brilliant for desert racers, riding in relatively flat terrain, or guys like me who need all the support possible for chronic conditions like severe arm pump, carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis or tendonitis. And of course you can always remove two pucks from each side, which converts these back to the normal Steg Pegz in which case your boots just slide past the rubber pucks on very steep descents. In my case, I'm doing a lot of steep descents but am using these for medical conditions. Are steep descents a problem? No but it took some adapting as I had to spread my legs quite widely, something I was used to from trials riding but I'm sure others would find a problem.
