In 1948 John Cage wrote a Suite for Toy Piano. His instrument was only two octaves wide and contained only white keys. At that time he was writing mostly quiet works, because as he later explained, “I didn’t think there was any good in anything big in society.”

I have recorded this piece on one of my favourite Schoenhut 25 key toy piano. I chose different locations in Mdina which I found best suited the music. The video was first premiered during Classical Next online showcase and subsequently during the Three Palaces Festival, both in 2020.
