The Way of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a 34 mile Pilgrimage Trail from the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Northampton to the Church of the Holy Child & St Joseph in Bedford.

Our Lady is said to have appeared in Guadalupe, Mexico, to a peasant named Juan Diego in 1531. She left an image of her appearance on his cloak, which still exists in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. A replica of this image can be seen in the Church of the Holy Child & St Joseph in Bedford.

‪@ramblingracheltrailtales‬and I are walking this trail in stages. This is our first section from the Cathedral in Northampton to the village of Ecton. Although we covered ten miles, we did detour a little from the recommended route to look at some of the nearby churches.

In this section we explore the Roman Cathedral, the Holy Sepulchre and the All Saints' Churches in Northampton.

There's a pleasant section along the River Nene, where there are a couple of cafes and snack kiosks. The route then took us back into the Northampton suburbs, where we detoured to look at the churches of Weston Favell and Great Billing.

The walking was a challenge due to the heat - it was around 30 degrees!

Finally a bit of field walking brought us to Ecton and the Worlds End pub where we enjoyed a welcome cold drink.

This is a recognised Pilgrim Route - you can download the route and find out more about the trail from the link below;

Stay tuned for part two!
