Blacksmithing Jig | Fullering Tool

Описание к видео Blacksmithing Jig | Fullering Tool

Make an adjustable fullering tool to establish square and accurate hidden tang transition.
Design is heavily inspired by    • Adjustable fullering jig - blacksmith...   from ‪@BlackBearForge‬
I choose spring steel instead of mild steel to make this jig very durable. Only after making this I realized it can't be striked with a regular hammer because, as far as I know, you don't want to repeatedly hit something hard with an hammer as there is the risk of chipping the tool or the hammer and potentially being hurt by flying chips.
Moreover I know see the stock I choose is a bit on the small side, I might make more tools to impress larger radiuses in the future!

Index of operation and materials:
0:30 Forge down this mild steel round stock so it fits the hardy hole
0:45 Cut to lenght with metal cutting bandsaw
1:04 Center punch hole location
1:20 Drill with 10mm wide bit for M10 bolt (yes, pre-drilling helps a ton)
2:10 De-burr holes
2:30 Cut slot with angle grinder and cut off disk
2:40 Clean surface rust with bench gridner and steel wire wheel
3:05 Weld Jig with regular stick welding. Not pretty but works!
3:40 Spring steel for top and bottom tools
4:00 Un-wind the spring with my lovely vise
4:42 Hot cut a long enough piece of spring
4:53 Straighten the piece
5:02 Upset one eng to get more meat for the hole later on
5:30 Bottom tool is offset so it sits flat on the plate
5:42 Gring with 2x72 to clean edges
6:15 Center puch tools (I annhealed off camera)
6:30 Drill 10mm hole
7:20 Hardenin process
7:50 Tempering process
8:10 Cleanup with wire wheel on bench grinder
8:20 Make mild steel spacers on the lathe (had no tubing of right diameter)
9:50 Tackweld two spacers to top tool so it's easier to position
10:10 Grind a regular hex bolt to drive it with a straight screwdriver, no space to turn the bolt with wrench
11:00 Top tool can be position at different height to accomodate different stock size
