Koryu Dai Roku Dr. Lee Ah Loi

This is a video about the sixth "traditional" kata of Tomiki Aikido (Koryu Dai Roku). It was formulated by Hideo Ohba sensei.

Koryu Dai Roku is the final Koryu Kata produced by Oba Sensei for practitioners of Tomiki Aikido. He was working on a seventh Kata when ill- health prevented him from continuing. This Koryu Kata directs students towards learning the basic principles of Tomiki Aikido through regular training. It is an advanced Kata based on the assumption that practitioners already know the various techniques as well as the requirements of Aikido such as smoothness, When these elements are observed during a slow performance it becomes very difficult for Tori and Uke who obviously do not perform floating breakfalls. I strongly urge students to learn this Kata well and to train regularly so that they fulfil the expectations which Tomiki Sensei and Oba Sensei hoped for, thereby showing the right respect for the Founder and his successors, Dr. Lee Ah Loi (Dr. Lee was involved with the development of this Kata)
