Choosing the Best Buckshot for Your Home Defense Shotgun

The only way to really know what the right buckshot is for your home defense shotgun of choice will be, is to test it out. Maximum effective range comes down to being able to safely and reasonably account for every pellet that leaves the muzzle of your firearm. With a pistol or a rifle we often have a single projectile to account for with ever press of a trigger. With 00 buckshot out of a shotgun, we have a pattern of 8 or 9 pellets to account for every time we pull the trigger. While this makes for a very effective means for threat neutralization, it also presents potential risks for collateral damage if we do not understand what our firearm and our ammunition are producing with every shot (both at the muzzle, and at varying distances down range).
