July Crop Production ASB and WASDE Briefing

This monthly report contains crop production data for the U.S., including acreage, area harvested, and yield. Wheat, fruits, nuts, and hops are the specific crops included in the report, but data on planted and harvested crop area are also included. There is also a strong focus on maple syrup, as the report details production, value, season dates, and percent of sales by type. The report also contains a monthly weather summary, a monthly agricultural summary, and an analysis of precipitation and the degree of departure from the normal precipitation map for the month.

The ASB prepares and disseminates hundreds of reports every year, providing the official USDA estimates on crops, livestock, and economic indicators for the agricultural industry. The WAOB serves as USDA’s focal point for economic intelligence and the commodity outlook for U.S. and world agriculture. Market-sensitive ASB reports are compiled and issued under special security conditions known as Lockup.

The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) is prepared and released by the World Agricultural Outlook Board (WAOB). The report is released monthly, and provides annual forecasts for supply and use of U.S. and world wheat, rice, coarse grains, oilseeds, and cotton.
