The Riyadh Metro is a driverless train network located in Saudi Arabia's capital, Riyadh, and is currently the world's longest driverless metro system. Stretching across 176.5 kilometers, the metro features six lines, 85 stations, and seven depots, with a total cost of $27 billion. The system includes 338 train cars and is managed through five train movement centers. As Saudi Arabia's first underground railway project, the Riyadh Metro is also the second metro system in the country. It offers a standardized design for its train cars, which feature First Class, Family Class, and Single Class areas, as well as wheelchair spaces. The trains are equipped with a Passenger Information Display & Announcement System and dynamic route map displays above each door. The metro aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and meet the needs of Riyadh's growing population. Bechtel has played a significant role in the construction of this ambitious project.
