Waiting Game. The story behind the song and video.

♫ Our new single Waiting Game is about how the past 12 months under varying levels of lockdown have affected our families. One of the few upsides has been the chance to spend more time together.

On one of our weekly FB/YT live sessions in mid-February, Declan played a keyboard riff and rhythm he had made up a few days earlier. I liked it and so did a lot of the people watching. I started trying to come up with a melody and some words on the spot. It wasn't quite right but it was a start, and the exciting thing was that we were bringing our live audience on the songwriting journey.

A week later we had a finished lyric. We called it Waiting Game, a song about how the past 12 months under varying levels of lockdown has affected our own families and given us the chance to spend more time together.

We kept working on the arrangement, adding handclaps and changing rhythms, all the time opening up the process to those watching live. In no time the song was mixed, mastered and ready to be released.

But what about a video? The answer was obvious. Since last October, we had recorded nearly 30 live shows on FB/ Youtube, documenting six months of lockdown - including the writing, recording and performing of Waiting Game. Why not use clips from that?

There was so much footage to go through, Declan had to speed it up to get through it all from start to finish. Then he had an idea. What if the video was a combination of us in fast and slow motion.

This is the end result, we hope you like it.
