Jeremiah was being called to deliver terrifying messages of coming disaster. He felt overwhelmed. God used this moment to plant an unshakable truth in him: "My word is not a suggestion. It is an event. When I speak, I am already in motion to make it happen. The judgment I declare is already on the way. You are not speaking into the wind."
It was both a sobering warning and a strange comfort for Jeremiah. It meant the burden of results wasn't on him. It meant the resistance he would face couldn't stop what God had set in motion. God's word has its own power, and He Himself is wide awake, ensuring it lands.
