This song was composed, recorded and edited in about two weeks for a competition that comes from an idea of Austin Wintory, a world class composer working in the video game industry.

The challenge was to take a sequence of notes from his song "Adrift", and make a composition out of it.

In "an ocean within.", the main melodies of verse, chorus and bridge are all made of the same pitch sequence given in the competition, with some in-between arpeggios, repetitions and grace notes.

I wanted it to feel intimate and realistic, so everything is recorded in real time with only some minor EQ and limiting on the master done in post. The result was so intimate that you can hear my sweater brushing on the guitar pretty much at all times lol.

To be 100% honest, because my previous audio interface sucked I also had to use a lot of denoising, which truly did miracles but also affected the tone of the guitar and the overall quality. Now I got a new interface, I'm just sorry I couldn't get it sooner so I tried to do my best with what I had.

The performance, audio and video quality are far from perfect, and my approach was mostly "This looks acceptable, let's move on" due to the circumstances ⏱
