His breath catches as his eyes slowly rise toward the ceiling, where a tall, unnatural female figure clings upside down, her long hair hanging toward the floor and her faintly glowing eyes locked onto him. The room feels suddenly smaller, the air heavier, as he realizes the monster was never hiding in the shadows below… it was waiting above him all along.
