Once there were 7 sisters standing against one male hunter, and one of the 7 hid behind the others. The 7th star is called Merope in Greek, and this astronomical shift where it went out of sight happened 100,000 years ago. The story of Orion the hunter and the 7 sisters or Pleiades (Πλειάδες - Matariki - Плеяды - कृत्तिका - スバル - 昴 - Tŵr Tewdws - الثريا) is told similarly in every part of the world, and so almost certainly was carried by our ancestors when they last left the ancestral human homeland in Africa over 70,000 years ago. The oldest human story may thus be the story of women protecting women’s wisdom.
