Happy Gothenburg Day!

On the 11th May, 1983 Aberdeen FC defeated the mighty Real Madrid 2-1 in the European Cup Winners' Cup Final at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg.

When Phil & Murray Smith arrived in Gothenburg the conditions certainly suited these two Aberdonians more than the men from Madrid as the rain poured and drink flowed.

Although what happened on the pitch that night has gone down in history as one of the greatest achievements in football. Perhaps more entertaining is what happened off the pitch as thousands of Dons fans descended on Gothenburg and partied the days away having, quite literally, the time of their lives.
