Stormy Weather: Guitar Cover

Описание к видео Stormy Weather: Guitar Cover

Stormy Weather is a classic torchy blues standard written in 1933 by Harold Arlen and Ted Koehler. The song is famous for it's longing lyric and steamy slow tempo.

It's been recorded countless times, but arguably made most famous by Lena Horn in 1943, and then again in 1960 by Etta James on her debut album "At Last!" I quote a number of Etta James' vocal twists from that performance here on the melody during the second verse.

I've simplified the arrangement a bit to "tighten" it up for this interpretation along with reducing some of the harmonic complexity that is associated with the versions I mentioned above, usually recorded with a full orchestra.

I've had a few requests to "play more" on the channel so I'm trying it out. Let me know in the comments if this is something you'd like to see more of in the future. But don't forget to practice your triads!!!

I recorded the backing track (available on my Patreon page) using Ableton Live. I played a Tobias "Toby" for the bass track, while rhythm and lead guitar parts were on the tele. All instruments went through my Yamaha THR10.

I hope you enjoy it!
