Trini Gulab Jamoon (Fat Kurma): Divali Sweets

Gulab Jamoon- A Trini Divali favorite!

This is a rich, flaky fried dough that is then sugar coated. It's a scrumptious dessert, try it! This is my recipe that I came up with after lots of trial and error and wasted ingredients (don't tell the hubby 😂).

Don't confuse this with the South Asian sweet Gulab Jamun; that is what we call Rasgoola in Trini.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of flour
1 cup full cream milk powder
1 1/2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 tablespoons crisco or cookeen/ghee/margarine/butter
2 tsps cardamom powder
evaporated milk to make a smooth dough
1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar
1 tsp grated ginger
1 cup of water
