‘Dystopian’: Canada to legalise euthanasia for drug addicts

Canada is set to legalise euthanasia for drug addicts.

The government will pass legislation in March which will mean people with substance abuse issues can access assisted suicide even if they have no physical ailments.

“This is a terrible idea – you’d hardly suggest that people with substance abuse issues are in the best place to make decisions like this about their lives or to end their lives,” Sky News host James Macpherson said.

“Not only that but most people with substance abuse issues can be helped to live a meaningful life if they just get government support.

“It’s kind of a dystopian world isn’t it, where it becomes more economical for a government to suggest that maybe people just want to end their lives than to supply services to help them improve their lives.”
