🎥 Can Neuropathy Cause Multiple Sclerosis? Or can M.S. Cause Neuropathy?

In our clinic, we see patients that have multiple sclerosis and they always ask “Can this cause neuropathy?”. Well I’m Dr. Gabby and I’m here to answer this question!

Neuropathy and multiple sclerosis (MS) are distinct medical conditions, but they can share some similarities in terms of neurological symptoms. Neuropathy refers to damage or dysfunction of one or more nerves, leading to pain, numbness, and weakness. Multiple sclerosis, on the other hand, is an autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, causing various symptoms.

While neuropathy can result from different causes, including diabetes, infections, or trauma, MS specifically involves the central nervous system. Although they are not directly related, both conditions can manifest with neurological issues, and their symptoms may overlap. If you’re experiencing symptoms related to either condition, it’s crucial to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management.
