WHAT IS "ELDER ABUSE" IN NEVADA?

NRS 200.5099 defines elder abuse as the commission of one of the following crimes against someone aged 60 or older:

1) abuse
2) neglect
3) isolation
4) exploitation

The crime of elder abuse in Nevada is typically prosecuted as a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor. But if the senior victim endures substantial bodily harm or a significant financial loss, then the charge can be a felony. The penalties for felony elder abuse can include several years in Nevada State Prison.
