HOW MANY TIMES DO PEOPLE USUALLY GO UNDER LASER TREATMENT FOR ACNE SCAR? | DR RASYA DIXIT

When a person has acne scars as they are getting ready to undergo a treatment for the acne scars with lasers very impart question is how much time it takes for the scars to improve what the laser is doing is it is causing a regular injury to the skin and they are expecting the skin will form the new collagen. So the skin will tighten up, so between the lasers we need to give a gap of about 4 to 6 weeks. That is the time the skin needs to heal. The next is how many sessions are needed. So it also depend so the depth of the scar. If the scar is very deep, they may need more sessions than a scar that is more superficial. So scars that is more superficial may need 4 sessions, scar that is deep may need 6 or 8 sessions. It depends on the colour of the patient. If the colour of the skin is dark and if we are not able to deliver very high energies, because if we deliver high energies in dark skin, then we are worried about the side effect of pigmentation. In order to avoid that when we try to do a lesser intensity they may end up in more sessions. Secondly it depends on the age of the patient. Secondly if the person is older they ay need more sessions than a person who is younger. Depends on the age of the scar. If the scars are old, as in the patient had acne scars in their teenage but they came only in their 30’s for their lasers then again, the number of season may vary. At an average, we expect to do atleast 4 to 6 treatment but the results will be visible much after the second sessions and by the third session there will be obvious results that are seen. Full results are seen 2 to 3 session before the last session. If there is no visible change after the scarring after the 2nd or the 3rd session, the doctor will change the modality of treatment from fractional CO2 to microneedle, microneedle to fractional laser. Or something like that in order to ascertain why the results are not so good.
