Avascular Necrosis (AVN): When Blood Supply to Your Bones Gets Cut Off
AVN, a serious condition, occurs when the blood supply to a bone, often in the hip, is disrupted. This leads to bone death and can cause severe pain and joint problems.

Who's at Risk?
Steroid Users: Long-term steroid use, while crucial for some conditions, can reduce blood flow to bones.

Heavy Drinkers: Excessive alcohol consumption, especially of poor quality, can damage blood vessels.

Trauma Patients: Hip fractures, dislocations, and severe injuries can disrupt the blood supply.

Radiation Therapy Patients: Radiation treatment, particularly in the hip area, can damage bone tissue.

Individuals with Certain Medical Conditions: Conditions like sickle cell anemia, lupus, and transplant recipients have an increased risk.

What Can You Do?
