Shivashtakam is a powerful eight-verse hymn (Ashtakam) dedicated to Lord Shiva, praising Him as the supreme, compassionate destroyer of ignorance and fear. This sacred stotram glorifies Mahadev as Shankara, Sambhu, and Rudra — the Lord of the Universe who removes darkness and blesses devotees with peace, protection, prosperity, and spiritual liberation (Moksha). Chanting Shivashtakam with devotion purifies the mind, removes negative energy, and fills life with divine grace. It is especially powerful when recited on Mondays (Somvar) and during Mahashivratri, when Lord Shiva’s blessings are strongest.

Shivashtakam beautifully describes the divine form of Lord Shiva — holding the Trident (Trishul), wearing serpents, residing in cremation grounds, and adorned with tiger skin.
