The robot from GIARDINA FINISHING applies PU water based glue to MDF panels that subsequently are processed on a thermofoil press (membrane press). The automatic process provide a precise uniformity of the glue on the panel surfaces compared to the common way of manual spray. The uniformity of the glue on the panel surface is critical specifically when the panels are going to be covered with high-gloss vinyls (PVC). A panel with a non uniform quantity of the glue will show the typical orange peel effect. A double layer of glue need to be applied on the edges of the panel: the first one to seal the pores, while the second will add the necessary glue to have the proper bond. After the application of the glue, the process continue on an BARTH membrane press.
