ROYAL SCUMBAG ORCHESTRA's experimental first #album. Really it was part of the the same recording sessions as the second album but the record company divided the record into two - this one experimental and quieter and the other, a harder 1970s glam style rock'n'roll version.

There are all sorts of crazy influences on this record, from the barber's shop opening backing vocals of Georgia Jones to the bluegrass style of Rosie Dee and Banjo de Sangre. The track Maria and other parts, like the solo on Georgia Jones are very John Barry influenced (the guy who wrote most of the James Bond tracks.) Sitting in the Sun is a folk, fingerstyle guitar piece and Just A Smile features gospel backing vocals which were recorded by all the friends, family and neighbours, not a profession choir. There are also influences of blues, rockabilly, swing and jazz. The experience is certainly refreshing and original. If the whole album sounds like a demo, it is because it really is - the LP was recorded in a garage in hot, sweaty Seville, the frying pan of Europe.
