In this video I show a female Emerald Tree Boa displaying unusual hanging behavior after pairing, and I walk through what that behavior may actually mean in the breeding cycle.

At this stage, this does not appear to be true gravidity yet, and there is no visible post-ovulation swell. What this most likely represents is a pre-ovulatory or early hormonal shift — a period where females often change posture, perch selection, and thermoregulation before a true ovulation event.

This phase can last days to weeks, and it’s often the first visible sign that the pairing timing was correct.
