Boosting Agriculture and Food Security Programme: The Journey

This documentary highlights the impact of the Boosting Agriculture and Food Security Programme (BAFS), implemented by Solidaridad West Africa, the Cotton Tree Foundation and partners in Sierra Leone, between 2019 and 2023, with funding from the European Union Delegation in Sierra Leone.

Through the programme, Solidaridad and partners trained and supported 7,818 smallholder farmers across 12 districts to improve agricultural practices, resulting in enhanced production.

These farmers also benefited from extension services facilitating the cultivation of improved varieties of cashew, coffee, and cocoa across a total of 5,182 hectares.

The project established over 200 Farmer Field Schools across Sierra Leone to educate farmers on farm management practices, and 280 Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA) to provide financial resources to smallholder farmers.
