Garfield Heights police arrest teen, search for suspects in New Year’s Eve chase and shooting

Garfield Heights police (GHPD) are searching for suspects after a car chase escalated into an apparent shootout spanning multiple streets.

Tuesday afternoon around 1:00 p.m., GHPD says a car chase that started in Cleveland came to a head in the area of E. 93rd and Grand Division Ave.

Detectives believe a stolen white Dodge Durango was chasing another vehicle, when it hit a car that was not involved in the chase.

Five people, who looked to be juveniles, then fled the Durango after firing shots.

When Garfield Heights Police arrived on scene, they sent up a drone and located a teen through the drone camera. The drone followed him as he darted between homes and attempted to hide in backyards.
