Hedging is mainly used to hedge the position if the market is not moving towards an open position.

So, how to add hedging?

It is necessary to know that mode switch should be done with no opened position. If you have opened position you’d better wait until it’s closed.

OK, go to the Futures market, hover over three dots and click on Position Mode, and here you should reset on “Hedge Mode” and click on “Confirm”.

As the mode change will not show any notification on API first opened order after resetting will be accompanied by an error, the system will see the mode change and subsequent orders will be created as usual.

Let’s see it in example.
Open order. Received an error and the system has changed the mode on “Hedging” automatically. Open order once again and it’s there!

Let’s talk a little about hedging using strategies.

Supposably, we opened short position, but the market goes hi, than we can open long position to compensate short position loss for the market growth trend.

Second strategy is to open both Long and Short at one point simultaniously. And after some movement on the reversal, we close the winning position and average the losing one. After the correction, we close the unprofitable one either at breakeven or with a small profit.

Attention, this strategy needs to select the entry amount so that you have enough funds for 1 or more position averaging. And also insure your risks with a stop loss.

Let me remind you that it is useful to use a lot of Take Profits in the strategy, trailing stop loss for executed take profits and averaging orders, I will leave links to the video in description.

Let's illustrate how the second strategy works. Let's open Long and Short at the same time for the same amount.

As you have already noticed, the Long position is located on the left and the Short position on the right. Also, for the convenience of perception, we color the position and order levels in different colors.

So, after a small impulse on the reversal, we close the profitable one and average the losing one so that the position does not lag too much before the trend, for example, 0.5%. To do this, in the form of an order, we simply enter 0.5 in the Lagging field and the system will automatically calculate the required amount for averaging.

You can also place averaging orders in advance at support and resistance levels.

Now the position is in profit, we are closing it.
