Today's protests aren't the culmination of anything. They are the beginning.

And not because protest alone is enough. It never is. But because protest—when it’s grounded in community—is how resistance begins.

That’s what I study. That’s what I'm writing about. And that’s what we’re seeing right now.

From the Underground Railroad to ACT UP, from Black Loyalists in the 18th century to labor organizers in the 20th, the same pattern holds: Community isn’t the outcome of resistance. It’s the basis of it.

If you showed up today—or helped someone else do it—you are part of something serious. Something historical. Something hard.

We are well past warnings.

The regime is not planning. It’s enacting.

That’s where we are. The bridges have to be built now—across movements, across generations, across whatever power uses to divide.

This is the beginning of resistance. Because we’re finally acting on the thing that makes it possible: community.
