Ready to be thrilled by the flight of Kleng Ek!

In this video, you will go with DJ Nana to check out the Kleng Ek Center in Kandal provice, where Daro is working stringently to preserve and promote Kleng Ek for next generation Cambodian.

Kleng Ek is made out of bamboo for strut, palm leaves for tail and fabric. Traditionally, people would gather around in the fields at night time to chitchat about their day and listen to the sound of Kleng Ek, which can soar up to 1000 metre. The higher the kite is flown, the further its sound travels, allowing many people from different provinces to enjoy the sound as well. Before, it was a popular mode of entertainment among villagers with competitions for the best Kleng being hosted regularly, but with the introduction of modern MP3 players, radio and mobile phone, this tradition is almost forgotten. Daro is one of the only few young people left who are passionate about this kite and wants to promote it to the next generation.
