Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we have the Yakima SkyBox NX 16. This is gonna be a rooftop cargo box and we'll take a look at how it fits on our 2023 Kia Telluride. So if you need some more cargo space because you're going on a road trip or maybe you have some extra gear for your adventures, well, this is gonna be a very versatile roof cargo box. The SkyBox series is already pretty popular and the NX is just an upgrade to that with easy to use clamps and a nicer handle. The box is 75 1/2 inches long which is on the longer side, but fortunately for our Telluride still has plenty of clearance to open up the hatch.

We didn't really have to think really hard about where to put it on our raised rails since we have all that extra space. To access the box, you do have two keys. Both sides are key to like, so we need one to access the whole system. Turn the key to unlocked, pull the lever, and then with the lever pulled you can use both hands to support the lid as it goes up. There's a lot of space inside this box.

Definitely check out the full demo where we talk about what stuff you can put inside and how you can take advantage of that 16 cubic feet of space. What we're gonna focus here is the clamps, especially with how it works with our Telluride. Since you have a glass surface in some parts of your roof you need to make sure that whatever you're carrying on top is low profile. So look at the clamps and see how far they go in order to get onto your crossbar. It's a very simple process where you can just slide these onto your bar and tighten them back down, and you're not worried about hitting a roof.

When securing your cargo, you bring the lids down and you pull on both sides. You can see how the latch pops up. But you are not yet able to take your keys out until you turn it into the locked position, and now you can remove the keys. So the keys are in your hands and then you know that your box is good to ride. The SkyBox NX is made of an AVS plastic, which is what most roof boxes are made of.

Makes this difference is the finish. So this has a nano textured finish where it's matte, but also glossy. I think it looks great plus it's scratch resistant. So it really depends on what type of cargo you are carrying around for what type of box would be best for you. Now with the Telluride, this does fit, but you could actually go a size larger with the NX 18 if you want more cargo space and you're only carrying around the cargo box. It also depends on if you wanna carry longer items like skis. This is actually kind of short and you might prefer the INNO Wedge roof box instead. But for a versatile roof box that works well with the Telluride and isn't as pricey as the even more premium roof boxes, this is a great fit for you. And that was a look at the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 roof mounted cargo box and how it fits on our 2023 Kia Telluride.
