Tascam Mixcast 4 Long-Term Update

A little over a year ago, Tascam sent me the Mixcast 4 to review and test and I’ve been using it as my main interface for podcasting ever since. I called the review part one because I had every intention of making a part two when a new firmware update came out that addressed some of the issues that I talked about in the review, but that update still hasn’t happened and at this point I don’t know whether it ever will. It’s been just under a year since the 1.3 update was released, which to be fair did add a few new features, but despite repeated emails to Tascam, there’s nothing in the way of a 1.4 update in the foreseeable future. It’s really a shame too, since with a few additional features and some tweaks to the included software, Tascam could have a fantastic all-in-one recording and editing solution, which at the current price point, is hundreds of dollars less than either the Rodecaster Pro 2 or the new Mackie DLZ. But rather than waiting for an update that may never happen, I thought I would make this part two more of a progress report having used the Mixcast for more than a year.
