Chinese President Xi Jinping told Gulf leaders that Beijing would work to buy oil and gas in yuan. China's move is aimed at internationalising its currency and weakening the US dollar's decades-long hold on global trade. Xi made his ambitions clear when he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for talks on Friday. He also held separate talks with the heads of Persian Gulf states at the Gulf Summit.
