This is a review of the 2022 4K UHD Blu-ray disc release of Tobe Hooper's 1982 horror fantasy Poltergeist and also includes the Kempski Super 8 'Scope release from the late 1980's. Brief glimpses of the Super 8 are included for illustrative purposes only.
The Super 8 is renowned as one of the best quality Super 8 'Scope features from an original 35mm shoot and so it is no surprise to see the same exceptional quality on the 4K disc. Image aspect ratio is approximately 2.40:1, default sound is DTS-HD 5.1 but with a menu option for the original matrixed four track Dolby Stereo sound. Running time is 1 hour and 55 minutes.
