Symphony No.1 - The Lord Of The Rings // OSU Wind Symphony

The Oregon State University Wind Symphony presents Johan De Meij's first symphony, The Lord Of The Rings. Performed on 5/16/2024 at the PRAx at Oregon State University.

This work is written in a Leitmotif style, in which different characters and locations have corresponding musical material. This show highlights this by presenting the piece with accompanying lightscapes, with different colors and color combinations which correspond to the different melodic or thematic materials that they signify in the piece. The colors and characters are listed below:

Fellowship Fanfare - Gold
Gandalf - Royal Blue
Shadowfax - Yellow
Mithrandir - Orange
The Elvenwood - Emerald Green
Galadriel - Turquoise
Gollum - Red
Sméagol - Cyan
The Mines of Moria - Off (black)
The Bridge of Kazad-Dûm - Magenta
Hobbits Theme - Sage Green
Hobbits Hymn - Cornflower Blue
