Hobart, Tasmania’s capital, is located at the Derwent River, at the foot of the 1270 meter high Mount Wellington, in the south of the island. This seafarer city is the second oldest city in Australia after Sydney and also its most historic. it was founded in 1804 by Lieutenant-Colonel David Collins with around 300 convicts as a convict colony. The first electric trams were already running here at the beginning of the 20th century.
