The Creatine Phosphate System for Runners

Описание к видео The Creatine Phosphate System for Runners

The creatine phosphate system is your fast energy reservoir for things like sprints and short duration work of high intensity. How relevant is it for long distance endurance runners though? And how does it work? Let's get into some cellular exercise physiology!

Creatine phosphate is a high energy molecule that can be broken down to repsosphorylate ADP to reform ATP - the energy currency inside the cells of the body.

For endurance athletes though, this system is not very relevant since most of the energy to move for a long time and an easy or moderate intensity comes from aerobic, and perhaps some from anaerobic metabolism. Still, it does play a part in some situations like for example the finishing kick at the end of a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon!
